CIPC Stewardship is an issue for the entire supply chain, and purchasers are urged to play their part by demonstrating that due diligence measures are in place, and actively promoted, to ensure all supplies are CIPC compliant.
This will provide the necessary assurances that crops entering the market place have been subject to appropriate scrutiny.
The CIPC Stewardship Group includes both the Potato Processors Association, and the Fresh Potatoes Suppliers Association (FPSA).
“The future use of CIPC is in our hands. We must be more stringent in our application process including asking ourselves, is the store suitable for CIPC? … we are continuing R&D to find more effective application methods and alternative products used alone or in combination”
David Walker, FPSA Chairman“It is essential that the whole industry works together to support the Potato Industry CIPC Stewardship recommendations and takes every possible precaution to protect the use of CIPC.” PPA members have access to the list of applicators who have signed up to the NAAC Group, NSTS and CIPC Stewardship; the individual processors have agreed for 2013/14 to notify their suppliers of this approved list and stated that CIPC applications must be carried out by one of the listed applicators.”
